Women's Lacrosse Wraps Up MASCAC Play with 24-11 Setback to Framingham

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Hannah Guerin (Cumberland, R.I.) recorded a school record 14 points to lead the Framingham State University women's lacrosse team to a 24-11 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) victory over visiting Bridgewater State University on Saturday night at Maple Street Field.

The Rams improve to 11-3 on the season and a perfect 4-0 in the MASCAC while the Bears fall to 6-10 overall and finish 3-3 in conference play. Bridgwater is locked in as the #4 seed in the MASCAC Tournament and will host a first round game on Tuesday, April 30th.

Guerin tallied nine goals and five assists surpassing her own single-game scoring mark of 12 points set during the 2023 campaign. The nine-goal performance equaled teammate Leah Green's (Chelmsford, Mass.) single-game record set earlier this season.

Molly Lanier (Tyngsboro, Mass.) added five goals for the Rams while Regan Fein (North Attleboro, Mass.) notched two goals and five assists to along with a game-high ten draw controls, and Green registered three goals and a pair of helpers.

Camryn Gonsalves (East Bridgewater, Mass.) paced the BSU offense with three goals and an assist. The Bears also received three goals from Savannah Herrington (Kinnelon, N.J.) as well as a pair of markers from Meredith Sylvia (South Dartmouth, Mass.). Herrington checked in with six draw controls.

The first 23 minutes of the contest was tightly contested with neither team leading by more than two goals.

Clinging to a one-goal lead (9-8) with just over seven minutes remaining in the second quarter, the Rams reeled off nine straight goals over a 16-minute stretch to take complete control of the game. Guerin had a hand in seven of the nine goals as she scored three times and distribute four assists during the decisive stretch.

BSU's Erin McIntyre (Tewksbury, Mass.) found the back of the net at the 4:17 mark of the third period to get the deficit under ten goals. Guerin, however, answered off the free position with two minutes showing on the scoreboard and the Rams maintained at least a ten-goal cushion for the final 17 minutes of the contest.

Framingham finished with a 44-21 shot advantage for the game. The Rams also held the edge in draw controls (21-17) and ground balls (15-6).

Bridgewater went 7-for-12 on clear attempts and attempted just one free position shot, a Sylvia goal at 10:03 of the second period.

Framingham netminder Isabella DiMare (Wakefield, Mass.) turned aside five shots to record her 11th win of the season.

Two BSU keepers combined to make nine saves with Laura Giovaniello (Walpole, Mass.) coming on in relief to stop eight shots in just under 32 minutes (31:56) of action.

The Bears are off until next Saturday (Apr. 27) when they travel to UMass Boston for an 11 AM game with the Beacons. The Rams are back in action on Tuesday night (7:00 PM) when they head to Worcester State University for a key MASCAC game with the Lancers.

Notes: Framingham has won eight of the last nine meetings of the two teams. Bridgewater holds a 10-8 lead in the all-time series...The last time the Bears allowed 24 or more goals in a game was on March 24, 2002, a 25-1 loss to Bates College.
