Field Hockey Falls Short to Simmons

BRIGHTON, MA: Fitchburg State field hockey fell to Simmons University in non-conference action this evening by a score of 2-1.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/3/23

- Score: Simmons 2, Fitchburg 1

- Records: Simmons (8-2), Fitchburg (2-7)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Sharks would get the scoring started in the 8th minute of the opening quarter. Aria Badra would find the back of the net after receiving a pass from teammate Sydney Gonyea.

- Simmons held the 1-0 lead going into the third quarter. In the 31st minute, the Falcons would knot it up at 1-1 with an Olivia Narkevicius (Phillipston, MA) goal. The tie game wouldn't last long, with Badra finding Ava Kahl for the game-winning goal just two minutes later. The Sharks would hold on to that lead until the final second, getting the final 2-1.  

- Haley Bright got the win (5-2) for the Sharks after saving one of the two shots she faced. Jenna Morse (Leominster, MA) was tagged with the loss (2-7) after seeing seven shots on goal and saving five.

-  Saves: Fitchburg 5, Simmons 1
