Women's Soccer Plays Keene State to 0-0 Draw in Season Opener

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University and visiting Keene State College played to a 0-0 draw in non-conference women's soccer action on Thursday night at Swenson Field. The game marked the season opener for both teams.

Bridgewater State finished with a decisive 20-7 shot advantage for the game as well as a 10-2 edge in corner kicks.

The Bears kept the pressure on throughout the contest, particularly in the second half when they outshot the Owls, 15-3. Bridgewater was also flagged for seven offsides and had a goal called back in the second half due to an offside call.

Keene freshman netminder Riley Andriski (Newmarket, N.H.) put on a stellar performance in her collegiate debut as she turned aside 14 shots to record her first career shutout. BSU senior goalkeeper Tory Viola-Laughery (Brockton, Mass.) made four saves to notch her eighth career shutout.

Bridgewater State senior forward Michelle Belcher (Norton, Mass.) led all players with eight shots including six on frame.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday. The Bears (0-0-1) entertain nationally ranked #6 MIT at five o'clock, while the Owls head to Western New England University for a noontime match.

Notes: Keene holds a commanding 20-2-2 lead in the all-time series which dates back to 1997. The Bears, however, are 2-2-1 against the Owls since 2017.
