Falcons Drop Pair to Bears in Season Finale

Bridgewater, Mass. – The Fitchburg State University softball team dropped a non-conference double header with the Bears of Bridgewater State this afternoon as the Falcons fell 15-2 in game one and26-0 in 5 innings in the nightcap.

How It Happened – Game 1

Bridgewater took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first as senior Alexandra Ruprecht (Kingston, Mass.) and junior Kelly Reichert (Milford, Mass.) collected RBIs before the Bears extended their margin in the following frame (6-0) when Megan Sharon (East Longmeadow, Mass.) notched a RBI triple through the right side.

The Falcons would add a run in the third inning. With runners on second and third, junior Lundyn Forcier (Woonsocket, RI) laced a RBI single to left center field.  Forcier would collect a second RBI in the top of the fifth inning.

The Bears would tack on eight more runs in the fourth inning resulting in the 15-2 final.

Inside the Numbers – Game 1

  • Forcier had two hits to pace the Falcons, while junior Hayley O'Brien (Lynnfield, Mass.) and first-year Dana Cisowski (Hudson, NH) had the other hits for the Green and Gold
  • Senior Taylor Colvin (Lancaster, Mass.) had the set-back for Fitchburg.

Game TwoHow It Happened – Game 2

The Falcons were quickly down 15-0 after one inning. The Bears had 12 hits in the onslaught, senior Madison Synan (Quincy, Mass.) had a single and a double for 4 RBI in the inning.

Bridgewater would add a pair of runs in the second inning and nine more in the third. Freshman Janet Jolly (Raynham, Mass.) had a pair of RBI singles to lead the Crimson and Black.

Junior Audrey Johnson (Fitchburg, Mass.) had the only hit of the game for the Falcons

Inside the Numbers – Game 2

  • Sophomore Sarah Cahill (Mansfield, Mass.) took the loss for the Falcons on the bump.
  • O'Brien pitched two innings of scoreless relief for the Green and Gold
  • Bridgewater cranked out 27 hits, Morgan Cournoyer was 4-for-4 at the plate with 3RBI
