WESTFIELD, Mass. – Kimmy Creegan and Mia Pantano scored four goals each to power Roger Williams University to a 17-6 women's lacrosse win over Westfield State at the Spring Fling tournament in Panama City Beach, Fla. on Thursday afternoon.
The Hawks led just 4-2 at the end of the first quarter, but extended their lead to 9-2 by scoring the first five goals of the second quarter.
Westfield was led by three goals and an assist from Emma Prattson. Kylie Buchanan added a pair of goals and Mykenzie Black one.
The Owls used three goalkeepers in the game, with Kara Banagan, Sydney Smith and Izzy Conley all seeing time between the pipes.
The Hawks out-shot the Owls 29-18 on the afternoon. RWU goalkeeper Zoey Cormican stopped nine shots.
Westfield dips to 0-5 on the season. The Owls will return north in time to play at Johnson and Wales University in Povidence, R.I. on Tuesday, March 18. Please note the 6:00 p.m. start time, adjusted a half-hour earlier than the originally listed time.
RWU is 2-4 on the season. The Owls and Hawks last met in the 2021 NCAA tournament.
