BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University women's soccer team fell to the .500 mark with a road loss on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bears were edged by Roger Williams University, 2-1, in a non-conference game at Bayside Field, dropping BSU to 3-3-1 on the season.

All the scoring was done in the first half as Roger Williams took the series lead over the Bears, 11-10-1, dating back to 1992.

BSU has dropped 10 of its last 12 meetings with Roger Williams dating back to the 2012 season.

The Hawks wasted little time taking a 1-0 lead with graduate student Raffaella Brunetti (North Providence, R.I.) scoring just 1:35 into the game.

Brunetti's second goal of the season came on an assist by Julia Robbins (Johnston, R.I.). Brunetti put the ball into the lower left part of the net for the quick advantage.

The Bears evened the game at 16:18 when senior Sydney Dewhurst (East Bridgewater, Mass.) scored off a restart from 25 yards out as she buried a shot into the top right side of the cage.

Dewhurst, the team leader with five assists, now has two goals this season.

Roger Williams broke the tie at 32:25 on a goal by Robbins with Brunetti assisting.

The goal went into the lower left part of the net and Robbins' second goal of the season.

Roger Williams has gone 3-0-1 in its last four games.

BSU had a 12-5 advantage in shots and a 5-4 edge in shots on goal while having an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Bears goalie Logan Levesque (Bristol, R.I.) made two stops. Roger Williams goalie Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.) had four saves.

The Bears return to Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday morning, traveling to Fitchburg State University for an 11 a.m. game. BSU is 1-0 in the conference.

The Hawks travel to Connecticut to face the University of
Hartford on Saturday at noon.
