Men's Soccer Falls Short to Bulldogs

FRANKLIN, MA: Fitchburg State men's soccer suffered their first loss of the season this evening at the hands of Dean College in non-conference action.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 9/7/23

- Score: Dean 5, Fitchburg 2

- Records: Dean (2-1), Fitchburg (2-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead in the first half in the 14th minute. The Falcons were playing the ball back to their keeper when Luke Palmer intercepted the keeper's pass and scored on an empty net. Just under ten minutes later, Dean would add on another score from Chris Tunley. The Bulldogs would close out the half with their third goal of the game by Bryce King.

- The second half would start with Tunley putting in another goal in the 47th minute of the contest. Shavar Champagnie would net the fifth and final goal of the game for Dean in the 53rd minute. The Falcons would get on the board in the 74th minute on a penalty kick goal from Elijah Kalombo (Worcester, MA). Fitchburg wasn't done, however; they would get another PK in the 87th minute to tack on another. That score came off the foot of Brandt St. Gelais (Melrose, NY) for his first goal of the season.

- Alberto Gonzalez Del Rio would get the win (1-0) after facing five shots on goal with three saves. Luke Speers (Collegeville, PA) would be tagged with the loss (2-1) after allowing five goals with three saves.

-  Yellow Cards: Dean 3, Fitchburg 4.
