Lancers Pick Up Another Conference Win over Bears

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lancers (2-4)(1-0) took a trip to face off against the Bridgewater State Bears (2-3-1)(0-1) for an early fall Saturday morning conference matchup. 

 

Worcester State came out firing with an early attack as a shot by sophomore midfielder Charlotte MacGregor (Bellingham,Mass) was called back due to a penalty but set the pace for the high intensity of the game. 

 

Both teams battled to break the ice but the game was scoreless at halftime. The Lancers had seven shots and eight corners along with three saves by junior goalkeeper Madison Ferrera (Somerset, Mass.).

 

In the third quarter, the Lancers broke the deadlock with a goal from junior midfielder Madison Avilla (Westport,Mass) early in the second half off a rebound given up by the goalie's boot. Worcester State doubled the score in the final minutes of the game when senior forward Grace Adams (Leominster,Mass) sent a ball into the cage to seal another important conference victory for the Lancers. 

 

Worcester State improves to (3-4, 2-0) and will have another conference game on September 26th vs Fitchburg State at 7pm.
