Lancers Dominate in Victory over Lesley

Worcester, MA - The Lancers returned home after two games on the road to face Lesley University Tuesday evening at Brissett Court. A steal from first year Kyle Lubinsky (Blackstone, MA) that led to a sophomore Aaron Nkrumah (Worcester, MAdunk was the highlight of the night as the Lancers secured a dominant win over the Lynx.

 

FINAL SCORE: Worcester 95, Lesley 71

 

The first half saw Worcester lead the Lynx throughout the first 20 minutes of the game, keeping them 13 points clear within the remaining six minutes of the half. The Lancers were led by junior Ryan Rubenskas (Bridgewater, MA), who put up 10 points, including six rebounds and shooting five successful field goals made out of seven attempts. 

 

The second half was no different from the first, as the Lancers kept a commanding lead over Lesley. Rubenskas finished the game with 25 points and 10 rebounds in 28 minutes of action, including 12 out of 14 successful field goals made. Nkrumah was another strong addition to the team with 22 points and a team best six assists in 28 minutes of playing time. 

For Lesley, Eli Johnson led the team with 14 points in 17 minutes played, while Ayman Amghar recorded a team best eight rebounds and Scott Barlow recorded four assists. 

 

The highlight of the night occurred in the final 19 seconds in the first half when a block from Lubinsky was recovered by junior Guard Brandon Gorris (Bronx, NY). Gorris passed the ball to sophomore Guard Aaron Nkrumah (Worcester, MA), who lit up the court for a dunk that had the crowd erupt.

 

With this victory, the Lancers improve to 7-4 on the season , while Lesley drops to 1-9.

 

The Blue & Gold are back in action this Saturday against Regis College at Brissett. Tip-off is scheduled for 12pm. #WeAreWorcester
