Box Score

BABSON PARK, Mass. - Babson College first-year Amy Festa (Medfield, Mass.) scored two goals on two free kicks to lead the Beavers in a 3-0 win over visiting Bridgewater State College on Saturday morning.  With the win the Beavers improve to 3-2-0 overall and Bridgewater falls to 1-1-1.

Festa's first goal came after teammate Patty Pytlik (Wellesley, Mass.) drew a foul entering the box. Festa setup for a free kick just outside and fired a shot inside the lower left post to give the Beavers the 1-0 lead with just over 25 minutes to play in the half.

Babson's second goal came in the 54th minute when the Beavers were awarded another free kick 10 yards out from the top of the box. The distance was no challenge for Festa as she blasted another ball to the left side of the net putting the Beavers up 2-0. The goals were the first of the rookie's career.

First-year Ashley Tourso (Glen Rock, N.J.) also earned her first career goal as she made the move around two Bridgewater defenders and took a hard shot 20 yards out with just under two minutes to play resulting in the 3-0 Beaver victory.

Bridgewater's best chance came with just over five minutes to play when junior Kristina Ortiz (Dedham, Mass.)  drilled a shot from 30 yards out but Babson keeper Sam Scarpato (Weston, Mass.) was able to make the save.

Babson finished with 13 total shots and the Bears had six. Junior goalkeeper Sarah MaCary (Woodbury, Conn.) earned the win for the Beavers as her and teammate Scarpato combined for three saves on the day. Bridgewater junior goalkeeper Kayla Grover (Haverhill, Mass.) went the distance in net for the Bears making three saves.

The Beavers will visit Framingham State College on Tuesday for a 4:00pm game and Bridgewater will also play Tuesday when they visit Brandeis University.
