SALEM, Mass.- Connor Dolan (Rockland, Mass.) went 3 for 5 with 5 RBI to give Salem State a 16-1 MASCAC victory over Framingham State on Tuesday afternoon at Central Campus Baseball Field. The Vikings improve their record to 15-12, 8-7 while the Rams are 11-13, 9-4.

How It Happen

  • The game remained scoreless until the third inning, when Danny Robichaud (Dracut, Mass.) hit a home run that soared over the left field fence, giving the Rams a 1-0 lead. 
  • The Vikings put up an impressive offensive display, scoring six runs combined in the fourth and fifth innings. The highlight came when Dolan cleared the bases with a three-run triple.  
  • Salem State scored ten runs in the seventh and eighth innings combined. In the seventh inning alone, seven different Vikings' players recorded an RBI in the inning.  

 Noteworthy

  • Cam Fisher (Burlington, Conn.) secured his fourth win of the season (4-0). He pitched six solid innings, allowing only eight hits and one earned run while striking out four batters. The duo of Nolan Currier (Maynard, Mass.) and Anthony Butkevicius (Prospect, Conn.) also contributed to the team's success, combining for three scoreless innings and striking out five batters. 
  • Starter Adam Martin (Brockton, Mass.), of the Rams recorded a total of five innings on the mound. He allowed six runs, out of which two were earned, while giving up nine hits with six strikeouts. He record is now 2-1. 
  • During the third inning, Mark Smith (East Haven, Mass.) successfully stole both second and third base. This feat brings his total to 22 successful stolen base attempts out of a total of 24 opportunities.
  • The trio of Smith, Yabdriel Gonzalez (New Haven, Conn.), Owen Duggan (Billerica, Mass.) and James Dolan (Rockland, Mass.) each recorded two RBI apiece as they combined for eight RBI in the win.
  • For the Rams, Robichaud recorded his third home run of the season in the third and was responsible for the only Framingham State run.  
  • The Vikings will travel to Boston for a non-conference game tomorrow against Suffolk. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
