How it Happened:
Emmanuel would begin the scoring on the day just 30 seconds into the game but Worcester would be quick to respond off a goal a few minutes later from junior Molly Witkowski (Greenville, NY). The first quarter would find itself in a back and forth battle as the Saint would score and the Lancers would answer back with the first ending 3-4 in the Saint favor. Worcester would find their additional goals from senior Abbie Wing (Griswold, CT).
The second quarter would really find Worcester in their groove as they scored four unanswered goals off the quick shots of Wing, junior Abigail Vincent (Lakeville, MA), Witkowski and junior Shannon Donahue (Dennis, MA) to jump to a 7-4 lead. Worcester and Emmanuel would swap two more goals before the third period wrapped up as Witkowski and Donahue each added another to their tally and hat trick in the half for Witkowski.
The third quarter would find more of the same for the Lancers as they added more quick goals to their tally, this time from sophomore Madigan Kelley (Bourne, MA) in back to back scoring action with one off a man up situation, their second of the game. Emmanuel would claim another goal before Donahue reset the score at 12-8 and additional goals by Wing and Vincent would find the third end with a 17-9 score.
The Saint would mount a comeback in the fourth quarter after junior Mckayla Fisher (Peabody, MA) continued the Lancers scoring, grabbing four unanswered by a final goal from Witkowski with six minutes to go would seal the victory for Worcester State.
Both Ashley Hurley and Abbie Wing would claim their career 100th point in the match to wrap up a prolific game.
