Owls Improve to 7-1 With Wednesday Sweep
Westfield is now 7-1 on the spring trip. The Owls finish up tomorrow with games versus Rockford (Ill.) College and Geneva (Pa.) College.

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State Owls softball stayed hot on Wednesday with a pair of wins over the University of Wisconsin-Superior and LaRoche (Pa.) College in Naples, Fla.
The Owls won in a game shortened by the eight run rule, 10-1 over UWS in the opener.
Westfield scored nine times in the sixth inning to break open what had been a 1-1 game. Hannah Wodecki rapped a 3-run triple, and Kassidy LaTour capped the scoring with a 2-run home run. Wodecki finished 3-4 with two runs scored and three RBI to lead a potent Owls' batting order.
Joss Mettey (W, 2-0) started and tossed five innings, striking out six and walking none to earn the win. Katherine Canty threw a scoreless sixth inning to secure the win.
In the second game of the day, the Owls rallied from a 4-0 deficit after the top of the first to come all the way back for a 5-4 win.
Caroline O'Donnell's RBI single in the sixth drove in LaTour with the game winning run. Mia Alfonso was 2-4 with a 2-run home run.
Gianna Conte started and worked five innings, allowing four runs (but just one earned). Canty came on to work he final two innings, striking out five and yielding two hits but no runs to get the win.
