Lancers Extend Undefeated Conference Streak

Worcester, Mass. - The Lancers were back home Saturday afternoon with a conference matchup against Salem State at Brissette Court, with an opportunity to further their undefeated MASCAC streak. Despite Salem's efforts and aggressiveness to keep themselves in the game, Aaron Nkrumah's 20 points helped secure the win for the Lancers.

FINAL SCORE: Worcester 80, Salem 71

The first half saw both sides go neck-and-neck, as the Vikings put the Lancer defense to work early. Salem's Juvens Louis and Connor Byrne led their team in points, with Louis scoring 18 and Byrne with 17. Byrne also led the Vikings with 12 total rebounds while shooting eight out of twelve from the field. Louis made four of his eight three-pointers.

For the Lancers, sophomore guard Aaron Nkrumah (Worcester, Mass.) had another impressive game, shooting seven out of twelve for 20 points and a team-best eleven rebounds. Nkrumah also lit up the court with a dunk that had the crowd and bench erupt in cheers.

All eyes were on graduate center Erik Bjorn (Holden, Mass.), who finished the game with 13 points, just one point shy of hitting 1,000 points in his career. A five year member of the men's basketball program, Bjorn will without a doubt make this historic achievement come next weekend against Bridgewater.

This brings the Lancers to 15-5 (7-0, MASCAC) on the season and remain perfect in the conference, while the Vikings drop to 6-14 (3-4, MASCAC).
