Box Score

BRIDGEWATER, Mass -- Senior defender Andrea DiTerlizzi (Shrewsbury, MA) tallied the game's only goal to lead Framingham State College to a 1-0 win over host Bridgewater State in Little East Conference (LEC) field hockey action this afternoon at Swenson Field.

Framingham improves their record to 11-3 overall and 8-1 in Little East play.  Bridgewater falls to 8-5 on the season and 6-3 in the LEC.  The Bears dropped into a fifth place tie in the conference standings with Southern Maine.  The two teams will go head-to-head on Friday afternoon at 3:30 in Bridgewater.

DiTerlizzi potted the game-winning goal less than 3 1/2 minutes into the second half as she knocked home a rebound of Kayleigh Force (Leominster, MA) shot.

Bridgewater State appeared to take a 1-0 lead midway through the first half, but a Bethany Bush (Littleton, MA) goal was waived off by the game officials after a brief conference.  It was ruled that the ball was kicked in.

The Rams outshot the Bears by a margin of 10-8, including a 7-2 edge in the second half.  Bridgewater held a 14-8 advantage in penalty corners.  The Bears had five penalty corners over a three-minute stretch in the second half and would have capitalized on one of them if not for a big defensive save by Force.

Framingham State junior goalie Allesha Kenyon (Westford, MA) recorded her eleventh win (11-2) and second shutout of the season as she turned aside five shots.  Her counterpart, junior Katie Weber (Arlington, MA), made eight saves in the loss for the Bears.

Framingham State will be on the road again when they face UMass Dartmouth in an LEC matchup on Saturday at 3:30.
