Lancers are Blinded by Beacons

Worcester, MA- The Lancers looked to continue their winning streak too two tonight, taking on UMass Boston at Coughlin Field. The Lancers currently have two wins on the season, and a win in the match would see the Lancers match their total wins from last year with only five games on the season thus far.

UMass Boston came out kicking fast out of the gate in the first half, firing off shots across the box and keeping the Lancers defense on their toes. In the 16' minute of play the Beacons Josh DeAlmeida headed one past the leaping Lancer goalkeeper Andy Ramirez to put the first goal on the board. Worcester closed out the half with one shot on goal from a booming corner kick that just went wide of the cage off Manny Ramirez's foot.

The intensity stayed high for both teams into the second half, but a quick goal for DeAlmeida off a rebound bounce from the post, put the Beacons up two goals to nun quickly. The Lancers were far more offensive in the second half, taking seven shots in the half, but were unable to come away with a needed goal to close the gap.

Ramirez led the team with two shots on goal while Ramirez made a total of six saves on the night.

The Beacons currently sit at 2-2-1 and face off on Saturday versus Eastern Connecticut, while the Lancers now also sit at 2-2-1. They open conference play on Friday when they take on MCLA at 6pm at the Zavattaro Complex in North Adams.
