Fitchburg, MA – The Fitchburg State University Men's Soccer Team dropped a 1-0 decision to the Owls of Westfield State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this afternoon from Alumni Field.

How It Happened
Westfield State threatened midway through the first half as freshman Paul Whalley (Southwick, MA) rang one shot off the crossbar before firing a shot on frame, but Falcon keeper Luke Speers (Collegeville, PA) turned the shot aside
Fitchburg State's best scoring chance in the opening 45 minutes of play occurred in the 29th minute of action when sophomore Liam Evans (Marshfield, MA) and freshman Anthony Oliveira-Dalicandro (Waltham, MA) put back-to-back shots on target, only to have Owls netminder Luke Theroux (Chicopee, MA) make the save to keep the contest deadlocked at 0-0 going into the break.
Following the intermission, Westfield State grabbed the lead at the 85:53 mark when Walley received a feed from sophomore Ryan Denehy (Littleton, MA) and deposited a shot into the back of the net for his fourth tally of the season, resulting in the 1-0 final.
