Field Hockey Rallies for 3-2 Win Over WestConn

Framingham, MA – The Framingham State field hockey team defeated WestConn by a score of 3-2 in non-conference action Tuesday evening.  

THE BASICS: 

Score: Framingham State 3, WestConn 2 

Records: Framingham State (6-8), WestConn (6-11) 

Location: Maple Street Field - Framingham, MA 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The game started with a flurry of goals in the first quarter. WestConn struck early, just 34 seconds into the game, with Alyssa Montalvo scoring off an assist from Reagan Schoen.  

  • WestConn regained the lead at the 4:58 mark, with Andrea Moulton scoring from Constance Conlan's assist. The Wolves looked to push the lead to 3-1 but their goal was waved off after a discussion by the officials.  

  • The Rams took advantage and tied it again when Finley Hogan found the net on a long breakaway at 13:17. 

  • The game-winning goal came in the third quarter when Angelina Serra scored off a rebound at 42:03, giving Framingham State a 3-2 advantage. The Rams' defense held strong for the rest of the match to secure the victory.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Shots: WestConn had the edge with 18 shots to Framingham State's 14. 

  • Saves: WestConn's goalkeeper Gracie Bomboy made nine saves, while Framingham State's Whittaker stopped seven shots. 

  • Penalty Corners: WestConn earned eight corners compared to Framingham's four.

The Rams return to the field on Thursday when they travel to Plymouth State for a non-league matchup.
