Framingham, MA - The Lasell Lasers baseball team fell to the Framingham State Rams on Wednesday by a final score of 11-7. The Lasers are now 17-11 on the season while the Rams are 18-10.

The Rams struck first, scoring three runs in the first. The Lasers got one back in the third on a Bryan Baumann RBI double. After the Rams responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning, the Lasers scored another run in the fourth. This run scored on a Pierce Clare sacrifice fly. But the Rams would once again respond with a run in the bottom half of the inning to make it 5-2. But the Lasers would not be deterred, as they came back and scored two runs in the fifth on a Connor Freitas sacrifice fly and a Matthew Bischof RBI single, making the game 5-4. After the Rams scored three in sixth, the Lasers responded with three runs of their own in the seventh on RBI singles by Pierce Clare, Christopher Bulk, and Tim Callahan, making it an 8-7 game. But the Rams, as they had done all game, responded in the eighth with three runs of their own. The Lasers were unable to put any more runs across, and fell 11-7.

The Lasers had nine hits in the game, with Tim Callahan collecting three of them. His second hit of the game, a single in the fifth inning gave him 51 on the season, breaking the school record for hits in a season. The previous record was 50 by Josh Sullivan in 2011. Outside of Callahan, Bryan Baumann had two hits and Pierce Clare had two RBI. On the mound, Ryan Spies started and went 3.1 innings. He allowed eight hits and five earned runs. He was relieved by Tim Coakley who went 2.2 innings and allowed three hits and three runs, but only one was earned. The final pitcher of the game was Jason Giangrande, and he went two innings and allowed three hits and three unearned runs. It was Giangrande's 31st career appearance, tying him for the 10th most in school history.
