WVB: Lasers sweep Falcons to move to 6-8

NEWTON, Mass. - The Lasell Women's Volleyball team swept the Falcons of Fitchburg State in the Athletic Center Tuesday night to move to 6-8.

 The Lasers had registered 9 kills in the first set, four of which came from sophomore McKenna McCool (Loomis, Calif.). Her classmate Camila Lopez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) was the main turning point of the set when she registered 7 of her 10 service aces in the set in which she also registered 7 of the Lasers 11 straight points to win the set 25-10. In the second set, the Lasers jumped out to a 12-0 lead and controlled the rest of the set and won the second set 25-7. Lopez led with 5 kills and her other classmate Hope McFall (Bellingham, Wash.) had 3 service aces to pace the Lasers. Lasell would ultimately control the final set as they won 25-11. Emily VanHouten (Rockaway, N.J.) registered 4 kills in the final set and McFall put up 4 service aces to pace the offensive flow of the Lasers.

Lasell had 30 kills as a team while the Falcons put up 11. Lopez and VanHouten both had 7 kills to lead the Lasers, respectively. Lopez also registered 10 service aces with McFall right behind her with 9. McCool had 5 kills as well and Morgan Bogli (Vernon, Conn.) put up 4 kills to help the attack for the Lasers. Emily Cerasani (Buena Park, Calif.) had 12 assists and Madalyn Scully (Mauston, Wis.) had 7. On the defensive side of the net, Maddie Caro (Chula Vista, Calif.) led the way with 9 digs and following behind her was Lopez with 7, Cerasani with 6, and lastly McFall and Autumn Walker (Mont Belvieu, Texas) both had 5 digs apiece. Bogli registered 4 blocks as well for the Lasers.

The Lasers are back in action Thursday night when they travel to face UMass Dartmouth. The Falcons will host MASCAC opponent Worcester State friday night in the Recreation Center.
