Bears Comeback From Deficit to Steal Victory

BRIDGEWATER, MA-  After winning the first two sets, 25-21, the Lasell College women's volleyball team was shut down by Bridgewater State University in the final three games to defeat the Lasers, 3-2. The win bumps Bridgewater to 6-10 this season while Lasell slips to 7-8.

 

Lasell started the match out well with identical scores of 25-21 to begin with a 2-0 advantage in the match.  After falling behind 10-4 in the third set, Bridgewater went on a 9-1 run to pull ahead for the first time in the contest. The run marked the turning point as the Bears went on to win the following three sets; 25-23, 25-21, 15-10.

 

Senior setter Meghan Crozier (Ballston Spa, NY) was outstanding, leading the visitors with 40 assists and 21 digs.  Senior middle hitter Danielle Drapeau (Biddeford, ME) also recorded double-figures in two statistical categories, notching 14 kills and 11 digs.  Drapeau added three blocks on the night.

 

Freshman Anna Feeter (Peterborough, NH) added double-digits in the dig column with 13 and senior Eileen Barrett (Ludlow, MA) matched Drapeau's kills with 14 of her own.

 

Alexis Chappell (Springfield, MA) put down seven kills and picked up five digs for Lasell in the loss. 

 

The Lasers posted a .126 hitting percentage in the match, led by Drapeau (.393) and Barrett (.222). 

 

This weekend, Lasell will return to conference play when they will challenge Saint Joseph's College of Maine and hosting Simmons College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match. Lasell faces the Monks at 1:00 p.m. and the Sharks at 3:00 p.m.
