Football Falls to Husson in Season Opener

Bangor, Maine - The Framingham State University football team opened the 2024 season this afternoon and suffered a 56-14 loss to Husson University at the Dr. John W. Winkin Sports Complex. 

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Husson 56, Framingham State 14 

-Records: Framingham State (0-1), Husson (1-0)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams compiled 259 yards of offense in the game including 182 yards passing, while the Eagles amassed 329 yards of offense on the day.  

  • Treyvon Field completed 15-of-25 pass attempts for 167 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. 

  • Joshua Ramos rushed for 68 yards on 15 attempts, while Jaheim Daniel rushed for 33 yards on just seven attempts and averaged 4.7 yards a carry. 

  • EJ Nichols had five catches in the game for 55 yards with a touchdown, while Alex Maia had two catches for 53 yards. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Eagles jumped out to a 14-0 lead before Field hit Nichols for a 24-yards touchdown strike. Matthew Farley converted the extra point cutting the deficit to 14-7 with just over three to play in the first. 

  • Husson closed the quarter with another score and opened the second with a touchdown and led 28-7. 

  • Fields added his second touchdown pass of the day with just over a minute to play in the second when he hit Ayden Ramirez from four yards out. 

  • Husson would add a pair of touchdowns in the third and two more in the fourth to reach the final margin.

The Rams are back in action next Saturday when they host VT State Castleton at Bowditch Field at 1 p.m.
