USM Surges Past Field Hockey

Gorham, ME – The Southern Maine field hockey team rallied from an early deficit to defeat Framingham State 4-1 in a non-conference class Tuesday evening at Hannaford Field.  

THE BASICS: 

Score: Southern Maine 4, Framingham State 1 

Records: Southern Maine (4-8), Framingham State (4-6) 

Location: Gorham, ME – Hannaford Field 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Southern Maine tied the game at 26:33 with a goal from Leah Thibodeau, assisted by Brooke Carson. 

  • Southern Maine took control in the third, with Dylan Barr scoring at 32:28 (unassisted), followed by Norie Tibbetts' first goal at 36:51, assisted by Jenessa Foster. 

  • Tibbetts added her second goal at 57:52, again assisted by Brooke Carson, to seal the 4-1 victory. 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Shots: Southern Maine dominated with 25 shots (15 on goal), while Framingham State managed just 4 shots (2 on goal). 

  • Saves: Framingham State goalkeepers Rowan Whittaker and Kaitlyn Tello combined for 10 saves. Southern Maine's Eleanor Folsom made 1 save in the win. 

  • Penalty Corners: Southern Maine earned 8 penalty corners compared to 1 for Framingham State.
