Women's Basketball Stopped Short by Framingham State

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - The Curry College women's basketball team suffered a 74-56 defeat to Framingham State University Thursday evening in non-conference action at Logan Gymnasium.

With the defeat, Curry moves to .500 on the season at 5-5 overall.

Framingham held a narrow 20-16 lead at the end of one quarter. Sophomore Kylie McCarthy (Beverly, Mass.) paced Curry with six points in the period, while rookie Lauren Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) notched five points and three rebounds.

The Rams pulled away in the second quarter, holding the Colonels to just eight points to take a 37-24 led into the break. Senior Kristyanna Remillard (Abington, Mass.) led Curry with four points in the second.

In the third, Framingham widened their lead by outscoring the visitors 24-13. Dunn had a strong stat line in the frame, leading Curry with six points, two rebounds, and two steals, all to lead the team.

Curry showed some fight in the fourth, outscoring the Rams 19-13, but the deficit proved too large to overcome. Seven Colonels found the scoresheet in the fourth quarter, led by senior Kathryn Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) with four points.

Lauren Dunn finished the evening as Curry's leading scorer with 15 points, a team-high six boards, and three assists. McCarthy was just one point away from double figures with nine points, five rebounds, and three assists. Kathryn Dunn also closed the night with nine points.

The contest was the Curry women's basketball program's final game of the 2022 calendar year. The Colonels will return to action on January 3 when a road trip to Salve Regina. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
