Worcester, Mass. – The Fitchburg State women's lacrosse team dropped a 15-3 decision on the road to the Lancers of Worcester State on Thursday evening at Coughlin Field.

How It Happened

The Falcons knotted the score at 2-2 at the fifteen minute mark when junior Julia Miele (South Hadley, Mass.)  found a streaking Brooke Johnson (Billerica, Mass.) in front of the net. First year Kasey Allain (Danvers, Mass.) opened the scoring for the Green and Gold when she tipped the twine off a feed from junior Madison Alves (Braintree, Mass.). Johnson would add her second of the game potting the final goal of the first half.

Worcester would outscore the Falcons in the second half paced by a pair from Shea Jarvis (Auburn, Mass.) and Emily Pavoni (Granby, Mass.) for the 16-3 final.

  • Johnson paced the Falcons with two goals, a groundball, and a caused turnover
  • Miele added a pair of helpers, six groundballs, 4 draw controls and a caused turnover for the visitors
  • Jarvis and Kiley Hill (Lunenburg, Mass.) finished with three scores each for the Lancers.
  • Francesca Reyes (Malden, Mass.) stopped 14 shots for Fitchburg State in the setback.
  • Chloe O'Brien (Sturbridge, Mass.) and Savanna Rosado (Milford, Mass.) combined to make 4 saves for Westfield State in the victory.

Both teams will be back in action tomorrow night in non-conference play, with a 6:00 PM start at Elliot Field.
