ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College began a stretch of three-straight home games with this afternoon's 3-0 win vs. MCLA.
The Gators controlled the pace across their home opener, holding a 31-7 shot advantage and took 10 corners compared to only two by the Trailblazers (0-3).
Junior forward Kennedy Jones (Albany, NY/Albany) netted the eventual game-winner in the 26th minute. Freshman defender Katelyn Odorizzi (Voorheesville, NY/Clayton A. Bouton) recorded the assist.
After the break, the Gators scored twice in a 2:08 span to obtain some breathing room. Shots by Odorizzi and junior defender Aimee Warman (Rexford, NY/Shenendehowa) found the back of the net.
Forward Natalie Ricci (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes), a graduate student, who sits 11th in program annals with 55 career points, assisted on both of the second-half strikes.
RSC (1-2-1) continues its run of home contests on Tuesday vs. Skidmore. The non-conference action is slated to begin at 7:00 pm.
Notes: The Gators return 12 players from last season…Forward Natalie Ricci (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes), a graduate student, headlines the dozen…She began the fall ranked 11th in program records with 53 career points…Junior forward Marissa Key (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury), who registered nine points last season, and all three goalkeepers are also back.
