Gators Roll to Wednesday Night Victory at MCLA

NORTH ADAMS, MA – Russell Sage College Men's Basketball used a 47 point second half to take down MCLA 86-68 on Wednesday night.

MCLA (0-2) scored the first bucket of the game before the Gators (2-0) answered back quickly and never looked back, leading for the remainder on the way to their second victory in as many games. RSC shot 50 percent from the field and outrebounded MCLA 45-35 en route to the 18 point win.

Junior Guard Trevor Green (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh/HVCC) led the Gators in the points column, scoring 18 while adding six rebounds and three assists. Senior guard Noah Girard (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) was the other Gator in double digits, tallying 14 in the victory. 

Sophomore center Khalel Noteman (Brooklyn, NY/Canarsie) led the second unit in scoring, going a perfect 2-2 from the field and 4-4 from the line on his way to eight points. Senior center Ivan Oduro-Dompreh (Elkridge, MD/Longreach/Wells) grabbed six rebounds while his brother sohpomore forward Avery Oduro-Dompreh (Elkridge, MD/Oakland Mills) grabbed five.

Junior guard Mike McLaughlin (Clearwater, FL/Clearwater) went 1-1 from beyond the arc on his way to seven points. 

The Trailblazers had two scorers in double figures. JoJo Garcia had a game-high 21, while former Gator Jackson Brown scored 13.
 
"I thought our togetherness on both sides of the ball was helpful on the road tonight," shared Head Coach Brian Barnes after the victory. "Our game goals were focused on defense and rebounding and our guys did a great job carrying out the game plan. We're looking forward to coming to work tomorrow to prep for our next opponent." 

Russell Sage has outscored their opponents by a combined 40 points to open the campaign. 

Looking ahead, RSC gets the home slate started as they host Bard on Saturday afternoon.


Gator Bites: The 2024-2025 season marks the 16th for Brian Barnes at the helm of the Gators...Nine returnees combine with seven newcomers on this year's squad…Senior guard Noah Girard (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) and senior forward Todd Williamson (Schenectady, NY/Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons) were voted co-captains of this year's squad…Girard began the campaign seventh among Gators with 832 career points and fifth with 101 career steals…He headed into his senior season as the program leader with 110 made three pointers.
