Salem State Beaten By Fitchburg State

FITCHBURG, Mass. –- Fitchburg State rode three first period goals enroute to a 5-1 victory over Salem State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) contest on Tuesday at Elliot Field. The Falcons jump to 19-8 and 7-2 in the MASCAC. The Vikings slide to 2-13 and 0-9 in the league.   

How it Happened:

  • Grace Morey scored just 1:14 into the game to put the visitors on top 1-0.
  • Sophia Yates scored the first of her two first quarter goals at the 5:00 mark to spearhead four unanswered goals by the Falcons.   
  • Alexis Raymond put Fitchburg on top, 3-1 before Yates closed the scoring in the first half with a score at 10:32 of the first.
  • Salem State struggled offensively over the middle two quarters, registering just two shots on goal. 
  • Autumn Tibbetts extended the lead to 4-1 early in the fourth before Yates capped the scoring at 58:35 to earn the hat-trick.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Jenna Morse made two saves in the win for the Falcons.
  • Izzy Mosley turned away 12 shot attempts.
  • Fitchburg State tallied 30 shots in the contest.

The Vikings will host Worcester State in their MASCAC regular season finale on Saturday, November 2 at noon.
