Vikings and Chargers End in 0-0 Draw

NEW LONDON, N.H. – Salem State women's soccer took a break from their conference schedule to travel to Colby-Sawyer to face the Chargers in a midweek matchup. After 90 minutes of action neither team was able to land a shot, resulting in the 0-0 draw to bring Salem's record to 1-7-2 on the season.

How it Happened:

  • Colby-Sawyer dominated the first half with 12 shots compared to Salem's two, but Ava Guyer (East Granby, Conn.) was able to deny six of those attempts and keep the game scoreless to head into the break.
  • The second half continued the defensive stalemate, with Salem and Colby-Sawyer taking seven and ten shots, respectively. However, neither team could find the back of the net, resulting in a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Ava Guyer made nine saves in this afternoon's effort, which marked her second shutout of the season.
  • Savannah Scrodin (Bristol, Vt.) fired off a team-high six shots on goal for the Vikings.
  • This afternoon's match was just the second time these squads have met in the past ten years.

The Vikings are set to stay on the road this Saturday, October 5th, as they head to Buzzards Bay to face MASCAC rival Massachusetts Maritime Academy in a game scheduled to kick off at 12 p.m.
