Framingham, Mass.- The Western Connecticut State field hockey team overcame an early Rams goal to defeat Framingham State by a score of 3-1 in Little East play Tuesday afternoon at Maple Street Field.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Rams got on the board in the 5th minute when Maddy Pimental (Dartmouth, Mass.) sent in a long strike that was tipped by Mallory Weir (Bear, DE) and into the cage for the early 1-0 lead.
- The Colonials struck late in the 1st half, first when Melissa Krim (South Easton, Mass.) snuck a cross from Carly Matasavage (Middlebury, Conn.) inside the left post in the 27th minute to tie the score.
- Just over two minutes later Jordan Campbell (Mount Kisco, NY) gathered a rebound in front of the net and sent it into the cage.
- The visitors had another great look on the cage early in the fourth but Rams goalie Grace Pushor (Old Town, ME) made a diving save hold the Colonial advantage to one.
- Western Conn. tallied an insurance goal when Matasavage sent a backhanded shot in from left to right.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Neve Manion (Newington, Conn.) made two saves in the win for the Colonials. Pushor made eight stops for the Rams.
- The Colonials outshot the Rams 17-to-5 in the contest and were awarded 11 penalty corners to the Rams four.
UP NEXT:
The Rams return to the field on Thursday, October 3rd when they host Rivier in non-conference action starting at 3:45pm. The Colonials will travel to Keene State for Little East action on Saturday, October 5th for 2:30pm matchup.
