Women's Basketball Stunned by AMCATS

PAXTON, MA: Fitchburg State women's basketball fell to the AMCATS of Anna Maria College this evening in non-conference action.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 2/1/24

- Score: Anna Maria 69, Fitchburg 50

- Records: Anna Maria (9-11), Fitchburg (5-16)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  These teams went back and forth throughout the first three quarters. Fitchburg took the first quarter 12-5. The AMCATS flipped it on the Falcons by winning the second 13-6, tying the game up at 18 all going into the break. Anna Maria would then take the lead by outscoring the Falcons 18-13 in the third. They would follow that up by going off for 33 points in the fourth quarter, giving them their largest lead of the night at 20 points. This contest consisted of 11 lead changes and nine ties throughout.

- Marinique Reddin led all scorers this evening for the AMCATS with 23 points. She also finished with a double-double by pulling down 18 rebounds and even dished out six assists. Arianna Gonzalez also had a solid performance with 17 points.  

- Fitchburg had two finish with double-doubles tonight. Rylie Harlow (Hanson, MA) topped the team again with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Stephanie Hart (Shirley, MA) added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Falcons.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shooting: Anna Maria outshot the Falcons, going 31.5% from the floor, 16.7% from three, and 72% from the line. Fitchburg shot 23.1% from the floor, 15.4% from three, and 55.6% from the line.

-  Rebounds: Fitchburg 58, Anna Maria 56

-  Assists: Anna Maria 14, Fitchburg 11
