BSB: Lasers' Bats Halted by Vikings

Salem, MA - The Lasell Lasers baseball team fell to the Salem State Vikings on Tuesday by a final score of 4-3. The loss drops the Lasers to 10-8 on the season while the Vikings are now 4-13.

After the Vikings posted one run in the bottom of the first, neither team would score until the seventh. The Lasers tied it in the top of the seventh on a Matthew Paharik RBI single. But the Vikings would retake the lead in the bottom half, scoring on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single to make it 3-1. The Lasers answered right back in the eighth with two runs, highlighted by an Owen Caldwell RBI triple. But the Vikings would win the game on a walk off walk with the bases loaded in the ninth, taking it 4-3.

Making just his second career start, Ryan Spies pitched six innings, allowing just three hits and three runs, with two of them earned. He struck out one. He was relieved by Jason Giangrande, who picked up the loss after going 2.1 innings, allowing two hits and an unearned run. Seven different batters recorded the Lasers' seven hits. Connor Freitas, Owen Caldwell, and Matthew Paharik each had an RBI.
