Prairie Fire Win 12-4 Over Vikings

AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Knox College defeated Salem State by a score of 12-4 on Tuesday at Lake Myrtle Field. The Prairie Fire raise their record to 4-2 while the Viking slip to 2-3.
Jake Boucher and Nolan Currier each collected a pair of hits to go with an RBI each as Salem State managed just seven hits on the afternoon. Currier started for the Vikings, pitching 4.0 innings, while allowing four runs - one earned - on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts.
How It Happened
- Knox scratched across two runs over the first two innings before an error put the Vikings on the board in the third.
- Trailing 6-1 in the seventh, Boucher and Yabdriel Gonzalez hit back-to-back singles to drive in two runs before a fielder's choice by Currier scored the third run of the inning.
- A four-run seventh by Knox extended the lead to 10-4 as the Prairie Fire took advantage of two walks and two hits in the inning.
- An Andrew Garrett double and an RBI single by Thomas Wilmot in the bottom of the eighth pushed the lead 12-4.
- Jeff Ripka earned the win for Knox, going 4.0 innings and allowing three hits and one unearned run with three strikeouts and three walks.
- Brady Bertrand picked up the save, going four innings and allowing three unearned runs on four hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
