
BOURNE, Mass. - Curry College improved to 2-0 on the young season after defeating Mass Maritime 3-0 in a non-conference collegiate women's soccer game Wednesday night at Clean Harbors Stadium.
The Colonels have yet to give up a goal so far this season, scoring three goals throughout the contest while keeping the Buccaneers off the scoreboard. Mia Schena (Nahant, Mass.) was the first to score, finding the back of the net in the 44th minute of play to give the Colonels a 1-0 lead. She was assisted by Gabriella McKendry (Rowley, Mass.) & Maddie Resendes (Coventry, R.I.).
Curry wasn't done scoring in the first half, as Julia Croft (Severn, Md.) managed to score the team's second goal in two minutes with just 38 seconds remaining in the half. This time the assist came from Catia Fernandes (Acushnet, Mass.).
The Colonels extended their lead to three goals in the second half when Schena scored her second goal of the contest in the 57th minute of play to put the game out of reach for Mass Maritime.
The Colonels return to action on Saturday, September 7th, in a home matchup against UMass Dartmouth beginning at noon.
