BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- Salem State received goals from Patrick Filetti and Kendy Price as the Vikings remained unbeaten in conference play with a 2-0 victory over Mass Maritime on Friday evening. Salem State improves to 2-0 in the MASCAC and 5-4 overall. The Buccaneers now stand at 1-1 in conference and 1-7 on the season.
The Vikings limited Mass Maritime to just two shots on goal as Matt Hauntsman earned the win in net.
Filetti broke a scoreless game in the 41st minute when he put back a rebound after a save by keeper John Murphy. Salem State held a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Prince added an insurance goal in the 85th minute when he knocked in a loose ball after Murphy failed to maintain control to cement the win.
Murphy made 10 saves for the Buccaneers. Salem State held a substantial 21-6 advantage in shots for the game.
