Women's Basketball Falls Short to Blazers

CHICOPEE, MA: Fitchburg State women's basketball fell to the Blazers of Elms College this evening in non-conference action.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 12/4/23

- Score: Elms 72, Fitchburg 61

- Records: Elms (5-4), Fitchburg (3-5)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Elms opened the contest by hitting a three, taking the lead, and never looking back. They quickly jumped out to a 10-3 lead. The Blazers would extend their lead to as much as 20 in the game. Their offensive production was from four players who would rack up double-digit points. Jade Lewis topped all this evening with 17 points, three rebounds, assists, and steals. Julianne Liebow finished just behind her with 15 points. Rahmia Johnston finished with 13 points, team highs in rebounds with six, and steals with five. Brianna Metellus rounds out the top scorers for Elms with ten points.

- The Falcons struggled to hold onto the ball in this one, turning it over 31 times. However, they would cause Elms to turn the ball over 25 times. Rylie Harlow (Hanson, MA) found success against the Blazer defense, scoring a team-high 15 points. Mikayler Patch (N. Attleboro, MA) and Caileen Hurley (Whitman, MA) also scored 11 points each. They both also finished with five rebounds each.

-  Shooting %: Fitchburg 40%, 3-PT 25%, FT 66.7%. Elms 37.5%, 3-PT 33.3%, FT 72.7%

-  Rebounds Fitchburg 37, Elms 37

-  Assists: Elms 16, Fitchburg 14
