Men's Soccer Blanked by Worcester State

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College men's soccer team was defeated 2-0 by Worcester State University Wednesday evening in non-conference action at Walter M. Katz Field.

With the defeat, Curry drops to 4-3-1 overall on the season.

Worcester State scored one goal in each half to put away the Colonels. In the 19th minute, a ball played over the top from nearly 50 yards out by Worcester State's Manny Ramirez took a wild bounce and eluded the Curry netminder to put the Lancers ahead by a score of 1-0.

Just over five and a half minutes into the second half, Luke-Mark Anu put home a rebound to extend the Worcester State advantage to 2-0, a score that would hold up until the final horn sounded.

Curry was outshot 11-6 by Worcester State in the contest, but the corner kicks finished an even 4-4. Curry freshman goalkeeper Brendan Cunningham (Middletown, N.Y.) made a pair of saves in the defeat.

Next up for the Colonels, they will return to Commonwealth Coast Conference play with a road trip to the University of New England on Saturday. Kick-off from Biddeford, Maine is slated for 1 p.m.
