FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - Curry College defeated Framingham State University 2-0 in a non-conference women's soccer match Wednesday afternoon at Maple Street Game Field.
With the win, the Colonels improved to an overall record of 4-4-2 while remaining 0-1-1 in Conference of New England play.
Curry wasted no time, bursting out to a 1-0 lead within the first five minutes of play when Sarah Crusse (York, P.A.) scored the first goal of her Curry career off a pass from Maddie Resendes (Coventry, R.I.) just four minutes and thirty seconds into the contest.
Mia Schena (Nahant, Mass.) took matters into her own hands late in the half, scoring an unassisted goal, her seventh of the year, to give the Colonels a comfortable 2-0 lead just 18 seconds before the end of the first.
Lexi Smardon (Scotland, Conn.) took over in goal for Curry, making two saves to keep the Rams off the scoreboard and earn the win.
Curry College returns to CNE competition on Saturday, October 5th, with a home contest against Nichols beginning at noon.
