Fourth Seed Field Hockey Eliminated from MASCAC Tournament by Fifth Seed Bridgewater State

Framingham, Mass. - The fourth seeded Framingham State University field hockey teams saw their season end this evening with a 4-1 loss to fifth seed Bridgewater State University in an opening round game of the 2024 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Field Hockey Tournament this evening at Maple Street Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Bears got on the board first when Samantha Souza knocked home a rebound off her own shot just 4:41 into the game. 

  • The Bears doubled the lead in the opening minutes of the second on a tally from Taylor Carter and extended the lead to 3-0 when Kallie Rose knocked home a rebound in the 24thminute. 

  • The Rams capitalized on their first corner of the game and closed the gap to 3-1 when Kaylee Beck converted off a feed from Angelina Serra with just under two minutes to play in the first half. 

  • Souza pushed the lead to 4-1 for the Bears with a tally in the opening minutes of the fourth. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Bears held a 9-5 edge in shots for the game, but the Rams held a 6-3 advantage in corners. 

  • Kaitlyn Tello made two saves for the Rams in a half of action, while Brianna Gagnon made four saves for the Bears
