Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's basketball team shot 53% from behind the arc and saw five players tally double figures as the Rams defeated MCLA 86-49 this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Logan Gymnasium.     

THE BASICS:

- Records:  Framingham State (15-5, 6-3 MASCAC), MCLA (4-17, 1-8 MASCAC)  

- Location:  Logan Gymnasium – Framingham, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The two teams traded points to start the first quarter before the Rams rattled off seven straight taking a 12-5 lead midway through the quarter. The Trailblazers closed the gap to four, but the Rams pushed the lead to 20-10 before a late basket by MCLA cut the lead to 20-12 after one. 

  • The Rams opened up the second quarter with a 14-0 run extending the lead to 34-12 midway through the frame with Katty Haidul tallying eight points on the run. The Rams led by as many as 24 in the second before taking a 44-22 lead into the locker room. 

  • The Rams extended the lead to as many as 40 in the second quarter as they held the Trailblazers to just six points in frame. The Rams maintained a sizeable lead throughout the final quarter.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Gabriella Redford paced the Rams offense with a team-high 18 points. Redford connected on 6-of-8 from the floor and 4-of-6 from long range. 

  • Haidul and Flannery O'Connor finished with 14 points apiece. Haidul grabbed 11 boards in the game to finish the double double. 

  • Jenna Tavanese finished the game with 11 points off the bench including 3-of-4 from behind the arc, while Kelsey Yelle finished the game with 10 points and four rebounds. 

  • Maddie Teta paced the Trailblazers with 15 points, an assist and a steal, while Zaylee Ramos chipped in with 14 points and three rebounds. 

  • Kristie Zator tallied 11 points, while Hailey Peabody chipped in with nine, seven boards and four assists. 

  • The Rams shot 52% from the floor in the game and 53% from behind the arc, while the Trailblazers connected on 42% from the floor and 43% from long range.

The Rams are back in action next Wednesday when they travel to Salem State at 5 p.m.
