Baseball Cinch Non-Conference Win Over Trailblazers

CHICOPEE, MA- The Elms Baseball team came up with the non-conference win on Tuesday night after the MCLA Trailblazers almost debunked the Blazers with a five run 7th inning. Aj Cook (Mendon, MA) ended the final inning with a double play from second to first to secure the 8-7 victory over the Trailblazers.

HOW IT HAPPENED

A six-run second inning led the Blazers to an 8-7 victory on Tuesday night.  Elms College put the pressure on, led by singles from Aj Cook (Mendon, MA), Aaron Young (Somers, CT), Justin Miller (Prospect, CT) and Tyler Galenski (Wilbraham, MA), a fielders choice play by Blake Bastos (Mineola, NY), a walk by Chase Prestia (Newington, CT) and Josh Nohilly (Bristol CT), and a sac fly by George Chaya (Methuen. MA).
  
Elms College tallied another run in the fourth inning, after capitalizing off of an overthrown pick off attempted by the Trailblazers catcher providing Chaya with the oportunity to steal home. (7-1 bottom of the fourth)
 
Austin Roy (Cromwell, CT) got the start for Elms College. Roy threw for six innings allowing nine hits and six runs while striking out one with zero walks. Ross Tine (Wethersfield, CT) would step up to the mound to finish out the final 2 and a half innings recording the save against the Trailblazers.
 
MCLA challenged the Blazers after a six hit and five run inning in the top of the 7th to bring the game to a two point differencial (8-6). The Trailblazers were able to capitalize off of 2 errors in the top of the 7th to help them grow their runs in the inning.
 
Elms College finished out the top of the ninth playing the field well with a unassisted forced out at second by AJ Cook who threw the batter out at first for a double play to wrap up the game for the Blazers. 
 
R. Adams and T. Mazzeo led with 2 hits apiece for the Trailblazers.
