Rhode Island College Defeats Salem State in Three

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Rhode Island College Anchorwomen defeated Salem State 3-0 in a tightly contested match at the Murray Center on Tuesday evening. Rhode Island College won 25-23, 25-22 and 27-25 to improve to 2-0 on the year. The Vikings go to 0-3.

The Anchorwomen overcame a 17-11 deficit to win the first set by two, 25-23. Salem State would take a 12-8 lead in set two, but the Anchowomen tied the game 13-13, before outlasting the Vikings to win by three, 25-22. Salem State nearly won the third set, holding a 24-22 advantage, but Rhode Island College picked up a sideout before taking the next two points. Salem State tied the set at 25-all, but the Anchorwomen rattled off an ace and a kill to earn the victory. 
 
Abigail O'Connor (Gilford, N.H.) recorded a game-high 14 kills, while sophomore setter Eva Haralabatos (Melrose, Mass.) dished out a a game-high 30 assists to go with nine digs.

Rhode Island College's Amelia Murphy (North Attleboro, Mass.) tallied 12 kills and 12 digs, while Sydney Green (West Warwick, R.I.) registered 24 assists.
