Ramos scores 18 points but Women’s Basketball loses to SUNY Cobleskill, 74-52

North Adams, MA- Talia Washington and Emily Satterday would combine for 35 points to lead SUNY Cobleskill to a 74-52 nonconference win over host MCLA tonight at the Amsler Campus Center. With the win the Fighting Tigers even their record at 3-3 while the Trailblazers fall to 2-5.

Cobleskill jumped out to an early 11-1 lead after a Washington free throw four minutes into the contest, but MCLA would answer with 11-0 run which included seven straight points by Brooke DiGennaro, to give the Trailblazers a one-point lead with just under three minutes remaining in the first quarter. The Fighting Tigers would close out the quarter on a 10-4 run and take a 21-16 lead into the second quarter.

Cobleskill would create separation in the second holding MCLA to just four points and would take 37-20 lead into halftime.

The Trailblazers came out more aggressively on the offensive end in the second half going 18-21 from the free throw line. But MCLA would have few answers on the defensive end and were not able to make any serious threats to the Cobleskill lead down the stretch.

Washington with 18 points and Satterday with 17 points would lead the Fighting Tigers while teammate Annie Canales would finish with 12 points.

MCLA's Zaylee Ramos would match Washington's 18 while Maddie Teta and Olivia Pressley with 9 points apiece along with Brooke DiGennaro and Hailey Peabody who each chipped in 8 points, would round out the Trailblazer scoring.

SUNY Cobleskill will next host Sage on Monday while MCLA returns to action on Sunday at 12pm when they will host Williams College.
