Softball Splits a Pair with Emmanuel

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball took game one by a score of 6-0 before falling to Emmanuel College 8-4 in game two in a non-conference doubleheader at Maple Street Field.     

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Framingham State 6, Emmanuel 0 
Emmanuel 8, Framingham State 4 

-Records: Framingham State (12-8), Emmanuel (10-10)  

- Location: Maple Street Field Framingham, Mass.   

Game 1 

  • In the opener, the Rams got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning when the Rams capitalized on a Saints error to plate a run. 

  • The Rams extended the lead with three in the fourth on an RBI single from Makayla Rooney and a two run single off the bat of Camille Desrochers. 

  • The Rams capped the scoring in the game with two in the top of the sixth on a sacrifice fly from Gwendolyn Carpenter and and RBI single from Talia Duca. 

  • Ally Moran earned the victory in the circle going seven shutout innings allowing just three hits with five strikeouts and no walks. 

  • Desrochers finished the game with three hits and two RBI, while Rooney recorded a pair of hits and scored a pair of runs.  

Game 2: 

  • In game two, the Saints opened up a 5-0 lead with three runs in the first and two in the second. 

  • The Rams got on the board with two in the bottom of the third on a two run hit from Duca closing the gap to 5-2.  

  • Emmanuel plated three more in the top of the fifth pushing the lead to 8-2. The Rams received a two run homer from Keeley Scotia in the bottom of the sixth to reach the final score. 

  • Duca finished game two with a hits and two RBI, while Kelsey McGuill finished the game with two hits including a double. 

  • Rylynn Witek took the loss going two innings allowing five runs, one earned, on three hits with three strikeouts.

The Rams are back in action Friday when they host Bridgewater State for a pair of games beginning at 2 p.m.
