Softball Takes Two from Lasell

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team secured a pair of victories defeating Lasell by scores of 11-3 in six innings and 2-1 in a non-conference doubleheader at Maple Street Field.     

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Framingham State 11, Lasell 3 (6 Innings) 
Framingham State 2, Lasell 1 

-Records: Framingham State (26-10), Lasell (24-14)  

- Location: Maple Street Field Framingham, Mass.   

Game 1 

  • In the opener, the Rams grabbed a 2-0 lead with single runs in the bottom of the first and second. 

  • The Lasers plated three in the top of the fifth taking a 3-2 lead. 

  • The Rams countered with eight in the bottom of the frame opening up a 10-3 lead. Keely Scotia, Talia Duca and Brooke Grassia drove in runs with basehits and Camille Desrochers and Gwendolyn Carpenter drove in two apiece with basehits. 

  • The Rams received an RBI single from Grassia in the sixth to secure the run rule victory. 

  • Ally Moran earned the victory in the circle going six innings, allowing three unearned runs, on five hits with six strikeouts. 

  • Grassia finished the game 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI, while Desrochers and Carpenter finished the game with two hits apiece and two RBI each. 

 

Game 2: 

  • In game two, the Rams took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a Kelsey McGuill solo homer. 

  • The Rams doubled their lead on a Duca RBI double in the bottom of the third inning. 

  • The Lasers cut the deficit in half with a run in the top of the seventh, but the Rams were able to secure the final outs. 

  • Olyvia Mendonca earned the victory in the circle going seven innings, allowing one earned run on eight hits with three strikeouts. 

  • Grassia finished the game with a pair of hits for the Rams.

The Rams are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Westfield State for a pair of games beginning at 12 p.m.
