Softball Splits Two with Johnson and Wales

Providence, RI - The Framingham State University softball team tallied five runs in the top of the seventh of game two to come from behind and secure a 5-3 victory over Johnson and Wales of a non-doubleheader this afternoon at SMAC. Johnson and Wales took the opener 8-4.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Game 1: JWU 8, Framingham 4 

  • In the opener, Johnson and Wales jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings. 

  • The Rams got on the board in the top of the fifth on an RBI single from Eliza Carignan, but the Wildcats plated two in the bottom of the inning to lead 8-1. 

  • The Rams received a two run double from Makayla Rooney and an RBI ground out from Carignan in the seventh to reach the final score. 

  • Julianna Chisholm took the loss going 4.2 innings allowing eight earned runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts. 

Game 2: Framingham 5, JWU 3 

  • In game two, the Wildcats scored three runs in the third and led 3-0 until the top of the seventh. 

  • In the top of the seventh, the Rams scored five times to secure the victory.  Abigail Behrikis, Marina Cadena and Brooke Grassia singled home runs and Ellie Etemad-Gilbertson added a two run single to center. 

  • Audrey Gauthier earned the victory in the circle going seven innings, allowing three unearned runs on five hits with six strikeouts.
