Holyoke, MA- The Elms College Baseball team dropped a non-conference game on Tuesday night to Westfield State University at Mackenzie Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The visitors jumped out front when Dan Burnett hit a solo home run over the right field fence. The Blazers answered in the bottom of the frame, AJ Cook (Mendon, MA) scored off a Tyler Galenski (Wilbraham, MA) groundout. The home side took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 2nd off another groundout. This time it was Seamus Higgins (Rutland, MA) pushing Chase Prestia (Newington, CT) home. The Owls retook the lead in the top of the 4th only to have the Blazers answer yet again. With the score knotted at 3-3, Dan Burnett delivered another home run for Westfield, giving the Owls a 6-3 lead.

Elms added 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th only to see the Owls respond with 2 runs of their own in the top of the 9th and take the non-conference game 9-5.

Ross Tine (Wethersfield, CT) would get the loss for the Blazers.

Elms will host Dean College on Saturday 4/22 at Mackenzie Stadium in GNAC action. First pitch is scheduled for 12pm.
