Nichols Edges Out Women’s Soccer; 2-1

Framingham, Mass. The Nichols College women's soccer team used two second half goals to defeat Framingham State in non-conference play on Saturday at Maple Street Field.  

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Nichols College 2, Framingham State 1 

- Records:Framingham State (0-4), Nichols College (2-1) 

- Location:Maple Street Field Framingham, Mass.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Rams jumped on the board early in the first half when Greyson Tellier chipped in a great setup pass from Hailey Baker into the top left corner of the net. 

  • Early in the second frame the Rams had a good look when Cathryn Cooney settled a loose ball in front of the goal but her shot went just high.  

  • The Bison had a great chance to score about 10 minutes into the second when Grace Killman sent in a strike that hit the post, deflected back to her but her ensuing shot was wide.  

  • A few moments later Falyn Hunt gathered a loose ball dribbled around a defender and sent in a strike inside the left post from 18 yards to knot the game at one.  

  • In the 70th minute the Bisons took a 2-1 lead when Niah Samboy finished off a one-time pass from Hunt. 

  • The Bison had a great look with about 10 minutes to go when Samboy headed a cross toward goal but Sarah Lustic fresh into the game, tipped the ball over the crossbar.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Saige Frazier made two saves in net for the Bison. 

  • Jetta Oskirko made five saves in goal for the Rams before giving way to Sarah Lustic who made two saves.   

  • The Bison held an advantage in shots 18-to-4, while the Bison led in corner kicks 7-to-2.  

 

UP NEXT: 

  • The Rams return to the pitch on Tuesday when they travel to Anna Maria at 7pm. The Bison travel to Fitchburg on the same day at 4pm.
