Women’s Basketball falls to Wentworth in nonconference action

Boston, MA- The MCLA Women's Basketball team concluded its first semester schedule this afternoon falling to the Wentworth Institute of Technology, 52-32. With the win the Leopards improve to 3-5 while the Trailblazers fall to 3-8.

Wentworth would jump out to an early 11-2 lead just four minutes into the game, but the MCLA defense would buckle down and hold the Leopards scoreless for nearly the next nine minutes of play. Unfortunately for the Trailblazers points proved tough to come by and Wentworth would outscore the visitors 17-5 in the second quarter and take a 28-13 lead into halftime.

MCLA would come out of the locker room playing more aggressively on both ends of the floor but still found themselves down 40-23 at the end of the third quarter. The Trailblazers would get no closer than fifteen in the fourth quarter as Wentworth cruised to the 52-32 win.

Maddy Foster led Wentworth with 22 points and 11 rebounds. MCLA was led by Zaylee Ramos with 13 points and Kristie Zator with 11 points.

The Leopards shot 36.2% from the field including just 1-15 from 3-point land. The Trailblazers shot 31.1% from the field going 3-14 form beyond the arc. MCLA also committed 26 turnovers.

Wentworth will take to the court next Wednesday when they travel to Eastern Nazarene for a 7pm tip-off. MCLA is off until Tuesday, January 3rd when they travel to Wheaton.
