Clark Rallies for 3-3 Draw in Home Opener for Men’s Soccer

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State men's soccer team couldn't hold off a late rally by Clark University playing to a 3-3 draw in non-league action Saturday in Framingham.   

THE BASICS: 

- Score: Clark University 3, Framingham State 3 

-Records: Framingham State (0-1-2), Clark (1-1-2) 

-Location: Maple Street Field – Framingham, Mass.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Clark opened the scoring early when Zachary Kratz scored in the third minute to give the Cougars an early lead.  

  • The Rams equaled the score when Joao De Aquino found the back of the net in the 29th minute. 

  • After the halftime break, the Rams took the lead when De Aquino scored his second of the game after a setup from Gustav Hemmingsen.  

  • The Rams scored an insurance goal in the 61stminute when Michael Jokic made a move around a defender and beat the Clark keeper inside the left post to push the Rams lead to 3-1. 

  • Clark cut the defecit to one with just over ten minutes to play when Ben Siegel skipped one by the Rams keeper.  

  • Less than two minutes later Lucas Saia headed in a cross from Siegel to knot the game at three. 

  • The Rams looked to have scored a goal in the final minute; but the goal was waved off for offsides and the game would end knotted at three.  

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Timothy Singleton made 12 saves in the game for the Rams while Diego Martin made three stops in net for the Cougars. 

  • The Rams made the most of their offensive opportunities scoring three times on nine shots while the visitors controlled most of the play with 29 shots.

The Rams will return to the field when they host Suffolk on Tuesday, September 10th at 4pm. Clark will travel to RIC on Wednesday, September 11th.
